Aiga Rēdmane
Dancing Body

In her photography, Aiga Rēdmane engages an art form that has historically shaped a complex and multifaceted view of masculinity as both a political and cultural phenomenon. Within the artistic practice of male dancers, a broader perspective on the masculine is revealed: the embodiment of traditional masculine traits – muscularity, strength, dominance – intertwines with movement’s fluidity, plasticity, and grace.

Through this tension, Rēdmane’s work offers a critical perspective on traditional binary gender divisions, representations of the body, and the fragility of masculinity. In photographs created over several years, Rēdmane presents an alternative vision of how the male body can be represented.

Aiga Rēdmane is among Latvia’s most requested and most popular portrait and fashion photography artists. Known for her distinctive style, her work appears in Latvia’s leading magazines and in collaborations with Latvian designers, musicians, artists, brands, and cultural institutions. The exhibition ‘Dancing Body’ will be Rēdmane’s first public presentation in the field of art photography, expanding her practice beyond the realm of commercial photography.
